Role

  • Review construction claims including but not limited to disputed Variations, Extension of Time Claims, Disruption Claims, Scope Gaps, and the like including performing analysis and gathering of evidence.

  • Assistance with negotiation strategy and damages assessment, including identification of the best options for managing a dispute process with regard to factual findings

  • Undertaking forensic reviews of records to prepare chronology of events.

  • Provide insights & recommendations to improve Client’s position with respect to claims.

  • Maintain a portfolio of Claims end to end.

  • Contribute to contentious claim forums as needed.

  • Provide ad-hoc advice & support to Client on Contractual/Legal Matters.

  • Developing claims and dispute related strategies to meet Client’s objectives & to preserve client’s reputation.

  • Drafting contractual correspondence & justifications related to dispute and claims.

  • Recommending additional investigation steps during a claim/dispute process.

  • Advise on legal risks and statutory compliances

This role includes the following:

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing CostPro and its clients with effective and accurate contractual and claims advice, based on detailed and thorough forensic examination and analysis of project information and data. You will also be required to prepare and write formal quantum and commercial claims reports, working independently and with minimum supervision, to put forward reasoned, logical arguments to support claims events and assist with the presentation and negotiation of successful claims.

The responsibilities of this role include:

Individual

  • a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (or similar)

  • a MSc/LLM degree in Construction Law

  • status as a Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and/or The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

  • a minimum of 10 years of major infrastructure project experience

  • extensive knowledge of main standard forms of contract, specifically both the NEC and JCT

  • Must be able to demonstrate the necessary experience and expertise in producing delay & disruption and loss & expense claims

  • Experience of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, specifically adjudication experience
